Security Hardening & Audits for Linux Systems

Most Linux systems are not compromised because someone ran a sophisticated attack, but because a known weakness stood open: a default password, an aging package, an open port, a configuration from a five-year-old guide. Security hardening closes these known doors systematically, verifiably, and without disturbing operations.

What we review and harden: Our work follows recognized benchmarks, above all the CIS benchmarks for the respective systems. We review user and access management, harden SSH access, close unneeded services and ports, check file system permissions, and configure logging so incidents can later be reconstructed. Configuration reviews compare the current state with the documented target state and show every deviation with a recommendation.

CVE patching as an ongoing process: Vulnerability advisories never stop, and hardening does not replace patching. We watch the advisory situation for the systems we operate, assess relevance for your environment, and roll out updates by priority, with proper announcement and documented procedure. Critical gaps with current exploitation risk we treat with higher urgency than routine updates.

What you get: A documented hardening state of your systems, a prioritized list of open points with recommendations, and implementation in agreed steps. After every audit you hold a report: what was reviewed, what was found, what was implemented, what stays open and why. These reports also serve as a basis for conversations with customers or reviewers who want proof that work is being done on your security.

Important for classification: We work factually, with benchmarks, reviews and documented measures. We are not a certified auditor and make no such claims; what we deliver is verifiable work on your configuration.

When this fits you: This service fits companies whose systems’ security state nobody watches, shops and applications with payment traffic, and teams that need a hardening baseline before a new system goes to production. It is also the right entry point as an accompaniment after an incident.

How we work: First the audit with a report, then the prioritized implementation, then optionally ongoing care of patch level and configuration in one of our billing models; the models are on the services overview. Network-level hardening we cover on our network and firewall page.
